South Carolina Native American Health Committee
The South Carolina Native American Health Committee is established by Pine Hill Indian Community Development Initiative under grant support by Urban Indian Health Institute, and in collaboration with the SC Commission for Minority Affairs. The Committee is seated with representatives of South Carolina tribal leadership, SC Commission for Minority Affairs and other State agency stakeholders.
This Committee is tasked with collecting Indigenous statistical health data to accurately reflect the disparate healthcare needs, implications, and effective solutions for our South Carolina Indigenous Population. This information is developed into an annual Community Health Profile for American Indians in South Carolina to supplement the Healthy People 2030 statewide initiative showcasing preserved lifeways and resilience of tribal communities in South Carolina on a lifelong continuum. The Community Health Profile aids in the effective consideration of South Carolina's Indigenous population in federal/state program development and policymaking.
